Hockey Specific Protocols
Total Hockey is not focused on improving a player’s bench press or vertical jump. Total Hockey will improve a player’s hockey vision, puck skills and first-step skating quickness. There is a direct relationship between the movement of the game and the design of the Total Hockey Training System. There are no wasted movements. Players participate in challenging progressive drills that force them to simultaneously move their feet while handling a puck and working on their vision skills. Total Hockey also combines on ice sessions with many of our development programs throughout the year.
NHL Experience
Hockey is changing and Total Hockey Training Systems’ protocols stress the skills needed to thrive in today’s game. The development of these protocols was based on NHL experience, and protocols continue to evolve based on the input of current and former NHL players.
Instant Feedback
Total Hockey Training Systems uses advanced computer, sensor and radar technology to measure player performance at various stages of the training process. This immediate feedback encourages players to train out of their comfort zone and truly enhance their hockey-specific skills. At Total Hockey Training Systems, players don’t go through the motions. They are challenged to become better players.
On-Line Player Development
Total Hockey Training Systems’ ability to track and record performance has revolutionized player development. When athletes enter a facility, they are given a swipe card (depending on program they are registered for) that records performance data and automatically uploads this data to MyTotalHockey.com. Players can access this website from any computer with Internet access, allowing athletes to track their progress and compare their performance to other players of the same age. This is the Total Hockey Training Systems difference.
Cutting-Edge Technology
Total Hockey Training Systems employs a full-time engineer to stay on the forefront of skills training technology. The development of technologies measuring split vision, skating speed and acceleration, shooting and puck handling competency, and other hockey skill components gives Total Hockey Training Systems a competitive edge in improving hockey-specific skills.
Speed Ramp®
The patent-pending Speed Ramp® offers the perfect combination of NHL experience and Cutting-Edge Technology. This innovative training tool improves first-step skating quickness through an inclined ramp with a glide factor to ice of 90%. The Speed Ramp® does not change a skater’s form and allows them to skate just as they would on a real ice surface. No on ice drills or off ice technology can match the Speed Ramp’s effectiveness in working on the start and improving first-step skating quickness.
